Burcu Uyar - Larissa
While
studying piano and guitar, Burcu Uyar began singing in Turkey. Her talent as a
musician and vocalist quickly earned her music conservatory awards. Immediately
noticed by professionals, she first stepped on stage in the role of Olympia in
Jacques Offenbach's Les Contes d'Hoffman at the Izmir State Opera. She
then became a member of the ensemble of the Deutsche Oper in Berlin, where in
the past seasons she starred as Lucia in Lucia di Lammermoor, Violetta in
La Traviata, Donna Anna in Don Giovanni, Gilda in Rigoletto,
and Die Königin der Nacht in Die Zauberflöte, just to name a few.
Particularly appreciated in the French repertoire (Bizet, Delibes, Gounod,
Massenet, Offenbach), her role list also includes Mozart's masterpieces and
operas by Donizetti and Verdi. Mrs. Uyar recently sang Lucia in Lucia
di Lammermoor in Padua; Donna Anna in Don Giovanni at the Teatro Petruzzelli
in Bari, Roberto Abbado conducting and Mario Martone directing; Juliette in
Roméo and Juliette in Sassari; Violetta in La Traviata in Lecce. She
recently sang Die Königin der Nacht in Die Zauberflöte with René Jacobs
and the Akademie für Alte Musik on tour throughout Europe (Concertgebouw -
Amsterdam; Bozart - Brussels; Accademia di Santa Cecilia - Rome; Palau de la
Musica Catalana - Barcelona; Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation - Lisbon).
Burcu Uyar
recorded Gluck’s Il Trionfo di Clelia in Athens for MDG.
Future plans include Don Giovanni (Donna
